Great Orme Tramway

Getting there

By Car

Ample parking is available for Victoria Station in Llandudno town centre. Parking can be very limited near the station due to the narrow roads and residential parking. Visitors may be dropped off outside Victoria Station (Church Walks).

There are no parking facilities at the Halfway Station.

The Summit Station is adjacent to the tarmacked Summit Car Park which offers plenty of flat parking close to the station with a number of parking spaces for visitors with disabilities.

By Public Transport

There is a public bus service to the summit – Arriva Bus No. 26 runs hourly and leaves from the bus stop outside M&Co on Gloddaeth Avenue. You can find accurate information on the Traveline Cymru website. Please note there is no service on Sundays or Bank Holidays.

Accessibility

Ticket Office and Victoria Station tram platform

There are steps at the entrance to the station which passengers will use to access the ticket office.

Wheelchair users and prams enter the station via Old Road.

Benches are on the platform for passengers waiting for the tram.

Access to the Tramcars

Access to all the trams is via three steep steps. Staff can assist with boarding if necessary. The tramcars are open to all elements of the weather, with no window panes, so we advise passengers to wear suitable clothing.

Passengers must get off at the Halfway Station and board another tram to complete the second half of the journey. Visitors access the next tram via a wide level covered walkway. Seats are available while you wait for your tram.

Wheelchairs

Each tram can accommodate up to two non-powered wheelchairs so long as they are folded, due to limited space on board the tram. If the tram you are boarding has reached this capacity, you will be asked to store your wheelchair at Victoria Station. Alternatively, you may wait for the next available tram.

Regrettably, we cannot accommodate electric wheelchairs or scooters due to the Tram’s historic Victorian design and construction. However, you can safely leave these on the platform whilst you enjoy a return trip on the tram – our staff will help with storage. Personal belongings are left at your own risk.

Prams

Each tram can accommodate up to three folded prams. If the tram you are boarding has reached this capacity, you may wait for the next available tram.

Babies must be taken out of their pram or pushchair and be held by a seated adult.

Dogs

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the Tramway. Assistance dogs travel free of charge, for other dogs there is a small fee.

Facilities

Wheelchair accessible toilet facilities are available at the Halfway Station and inside the Summit Visitor Centre.

A hearing loop is available at the Ticket Office at Victoria Station and the Summit Station.

Summit Visitor Centre

The Centre can be accessed via a ramp in the forecourt area.

Summit Forecourt Seating

There are benches on the forecourt, with picnic tables and more benches in the surrounding area.
